Borovets (known as Cham Koria by the mid-20th century) is Bulgaria’s oldest resort – dating back to 1896 when kniaz Ferdinand I of Bulgaria built his summer residence here. Today Borovets is the largest first-class resort.
It is situated at 1350 m above sea level on the north side of the Rila Mountain, 73 km from Sofia, 83 km from Blagoevgrad and 125 km from Plovdiv. The nearest town is Samokov, 10 km away.
