Sandanski, Bulgaria

Sandanski is a town in southwestern Bulgaria. Thracians established a settlement named Medius, later Roman settlement on the site of the present town was called Dezudava and in medieval Bulgarians called it St.Vrach. In the region of Sandanski is believed that he was born and lived Spartak Thracian tribe. Monument of Spartacus is one of the symbols of the city. Sandanski is located in Blagoevgrad and is the administrative center of the municipality of Sandanski, which includes the town of Melnik.
