Devin is located in Southern Bulgaria, Smolyan region. It is close to Pamporovo and Chepelare. The city is situated in the valley of Vacha River in the Rhodope Mountains. In the area are found various Paleolithic deposits 30,000 years ago. At the end of Nha XIV c. BC. N. Is. Devin today was inhabited by Thracian tribes, which testify numerous Thracian mounds, settlements and fortress. Thracian sanctuaries was in the area and Videnitsa Stanilovo Byrd from the Hellenistic period.
