Sozopol is a town in southeastern Bulgaria on the Black Sea. It is located a few small peninsula in the southern part of the Bourgas zaliv.Sozopol is the successor of the Greek colony of Apollonia, and together with Nessebar is one of the oldest Bulgarian cities. From antiquity to the 17th century it is a thriving commercial center. He is known as fishing and wine center and occupies an important place in the grain trade from Thrace. From late antiquity, the town developed as an important religious center with numerous medieval monasteries.
