Istria is a peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. Located in northwestern Croatia. It occupies parts of southwestern Slovenia. It became part of the larger Balkan Peninsula. To the northwest of it is the Gulf of Trieste and the southeast is Kvarner Bay. The largest cities located on the peninsula are Pula in Croatia, Koper in Slovenia.
The peninsula is a famous tourist destination. It has enchanting bays and towns built in the Venetian style. For the most part represents a karst plateau.
