Opatija - a town in Croatia, in the northeast of the Istrian peninsula, on the shores of the Kvarner Bay of the Adriatic Sea. Opatija is directly adjacent to the west of Rijeka. The town's name comes from the word "abbey" (Horw. Opatija, Italian. Abbazia). Name the city gave the ancient Abbey of San Giacomo della Prilucha, later remodeled into a villa.
