Sirmione is a town and municipality in northern Italy, the province of Brescia, Lombardy. It is located 66 m altitude, thin peninsula on the south coast of Lake Garda. It is believed that there Sirmione Neolithic, as excavations show that it was a small fishing village. Its inhabitants lived in houses on stilts. Similar prehistoric settlements in the foothills of the Alps have been declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 2011.
