Tarquinia is located 87 km northwest of Rome and 48 km south-east of Viterbo. The city is located on the Via Aurelia (1 Via Aurelia), which leads along the coast from Rome to the French border at Ventimiglia. Tarquinia has a station on the railway line Tirenitsa Rome - Pisa.
