Bratislava is the capital and largest city of Slovakia, the administrative center of Bratislava Region. Located in southwestern Slovakia on both banks of the Danube River and the left bank of the Morava. Bratislava is the political, cultural and economic center of Slovakia. History Bratislava was influenced by various nations - Austrians, Jews, Germans, Slovaks, Serbs, Hungarians, Czechs. From 1536 to 1783 the city was the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary, part of the Habsburg monarchy, and is the birthplace of many famous Slovak, Hungarian, and German historical figures.
